With the fan on auto, the fan cycles with the t-stat. Leaving the fan on ON, the fan runs continuously until you turn it back to Auto. The A/C will cycle on the t-stat setting, but the fan will continue to run. This helps circulate the air better, and it also helps in some cases to cool “hard to cool” rooms. You will probably have to change the filters more often. Also, the blower motor uses the air circulating through the system to help cool the motor, so unless the motor is already bad, you shouldn’t have any blower issues. Make sure to add a few drops of oil to the oil ports on the motor twice a year. The regular maintenance should be every spring wash out the condenser coil in the spring and change the filter.
